Peter Mills is the Owner of Mills and Chopin, founding the firm in May 2020. He focuses his practice on personal injury, wrongful death, and criminal defense. His ability to build relationships with people – from his coworkers to his clients to court staff and opposing counsel – helps him achieve his clients’ goals. Peter has worked in the legal industry for over 20 years. In addition to his current work, he has also worked on a a wide variety of matters involving insurance enforcement and family law.

Peter is a trial attorney with family roots in Austin and the central Texas area going back several generations. Peter graduated from Emory University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and Sociology. During college, he was selected for membership in the Alpha Kappa Delta honor society. Subsequently, he earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 2003. During law school, Peter participated as a Student Attorney in the University of Texas Criminal Law Clinic, defending indigent individuals charged with misdemeanor offenses in Travis County.

Peter is a member of the Austin Bar Association, Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas.

Outside of work, Peter is a board member for Blue Lapis Light, an Austin-based non-profit aerial dance troupe.
